Costain wins new work overseas

Despite its current difficulties Costain is continuing to win work abroad with new contracts coming in from Bahrain and Malaysia.

In Bahrain, Jalal Costain has won a œ20.3 million design and build contract for the construction of the National Bank of Bahrain. The new headquarters will comprise a 25-storey tower with two basements providing a total floor area of 27,000m2.

In Malaysia, Costain has been appointed main contractor for a œ15.5 million festival shopping mall and covered street in Kuala Lumpur. The project for Sentul Raya will incorporate the refurbishment of two existing office buildings. An eight-screen cinema and the conversion of a railway workshop complex into an exhibition centre are also included in the project.
