Cat boom cuts site damage
One of the UK's first Cat 307 hydraulic excavators with a parallel
off-set boom arrangement is helping a Buckinghampshire groundworks
contractor reduce site damage during excavation.
The 7.6t machine, supplied by Cat dealer Leverton, is operated by
Aylesbury-based Saunders (Southern) - a contractor specialising in
house footings and drains.
The boom off-set facility allows changes in the line of house
footings to be made without having to reposition the machine. The
off-set arrangement, which enables the superstructure to be kept in
line with the undercarriage during off-set digging, also permits
manhole chambers up to 2.4m wide to be excavated without moving the
machine off the centre line of track.
