Miller sees off Stonehaven rivals

An NHS-led consortium which includes Miller Construction has been selected to redevelop and run Stonehaven Hospital near Aberdeen. The consortium - comprising Grampian Healthcare, Miller, British Linen Bank and Community Health Services (CHS) - saw off bids by Westminster Healthcare and Lister BestCare.

The Grampian Healthcare bid, worth around œ27 million, includes the provision of a new hospital with 49 NHS beds, 30 elderly patient beds and a minor injuries unit. A separate 20-bed private nursing home will also be build and run by CHS, as part of the PFI package.

The new hospital will replace the two existing hospitals at Arduthie and Woodcot.
