completion to the road scheme.
HOME STARTSDOWN
Applications to start new homes in the second quarter of 1996 were
down 9% on last year, except for Northern Ireland (up 22%) and East
Midlands (2% ahead) according to the National House-Building
Council. However, sales of new homes in June showed a 13% increase
on May 1996, the best month since June 1995.
JUBILEELINE
Contrary to our story last week on the JLEbreakthrough (News
prompts Lovell's swift JLE exit), the breakthrough on the eastbound
tunnels was not an organised event and, as such, no dignitaries
were left waiting for an hour and a half as reported. We are happy
to clarify this.
