Leaders of the TGWU are backing an international network to
exchange information on best practice in site safety.
The international campaign on safety and health (ICOSH) was launched at a Geneva conference attended by industry representatives from 22 countries and chaired by TGWU national secretary George Henderson.
The union chief said: "The overall objective of ICOSH is to provide education and technical assistance. It will enable an exchange of information on standards and practices through an international network of construction unions and union-supported health and safety institutions as well as international bodies such as the International Labour Organisation, the International Social Security Association, and the World Health Organisation."
