A safe bet
Firms concerned about the dangers of plant theft and the problem of
ensuring that sites are secured may be interested in a major
conference scheduled for later this year.
The fourth annual Contract Journal and Plant Managers Journal
Conference on Plant Theft and Site Security will take place on 28
November at the National Agricultural Centre near Coventry.
The scope of the conference has been broadened this year to include
broader site security issues as well as pure plant matters as these
are intimately connected with the whole issue of theft and damage
involving expensive construction equipment.
The conference will once again be chaired by Peter Batchelor,
chairman of the Government's Vehicle Crime Prevention Group, who
has been instrumental in setting up a similar group dealing with
plant crime and who will present an update on the first year of its
work.
It was at last year's Plant theft Conference that Home Office
Minister David Maclean announced Government plans to set up a new
forum to deal with plant theft. For details contact David Waugh on
