œ40m factory for Laing
John Laing is to undertake the design and construction of a
œ40 million factory outlet centre near Ashford International
Railway Station in Kent.
The contractor has agreed terms with developer BAA/McArthur Glen
for a 19,509m2 factory outlet centre at the Kimberley Works site
adjacent to the railway station. Laing will obtain planning
consent, work up the design and construct the scheme.
Consent already exists for 27,870m2 of retail space, but a revised
planning application will be submitted in September. Laing sold the
land to BAA/McArthur Glen for œ10.8 million. Laing owns a
further 38ha of development land around the station jointly with
British Rail.
