CITB names top trainee

David Cottrell, 19, a scaffolder from Cardiff, has been awarded the Construction Industry Training Board chairman's prize as this year's top trainee at the Bircham Newton civil engineering college in Norfolk.

He is employed by SGB Services. Training board chief executive Ted Willmott said that the future of the Bircham Newton training centre had never been in question, even if the board had gone ahead with its plan to move its head offices.
