T5 for Laing
John Laing has been appointed by BAA as framework supplier for
civil engineering work at its airports. Laing has also been
appointed preferred civils contractor for Heathrow Terminal
5.
Laing saw off competition from a Balfour Beatty/Ballast Nedam joint
venture and Amec to secure the five year framework agreement, worth
around œ20 million a year. The agreement is the latest in a
series of partnering arrangements being undertaken by BAA in an
effort to secure better value for money in its construction
projects.
The Heathrow Terminal 5 appointment is conditional upon approval of
the terminal by a public enquiry. Laing's involvement will be to
assist BAA in design development and construction planning at this
stage.
