The EC is offering financial backing for concrete building
projects, according to the British Cement Association which plans
to brief the construction industry in a conference next
month.
The BCA is to hold a conference in Birmingham on 9 September to
promote the EC THERMIE programme of financial support for the
cement sector. Proposed speakers at the event will include Blue
Circle Cement, Castle Cement and Rugby Cement.
Next month's event will also have the backing of EC Directorate
General XV11 - Energy, which looks after THERMIE, a European
financial support programme for non-nuclear energy.
THERMIE backs innovative energy-related technologies which boost
industry competitiveness while helping the environment through
greater energy efficiency.
EC funding from THERMIE is won through project proposals, said the
BCA. Funding can be obtained to cover up to 40% of the cost of a
project, it is understood.
The conference is also to be the occasion to launch the Cement
Industry Suppliers Forum, said BCA. The event will be held at the
National Motorcycle Museum in Solihull, Birmingham.
