New wind software launched
A new software package to help speed up the analysis of wind
loading on structures has been launched by the Building Research
Establishment. The software has been designed by BRE to help
implement a new British Standard for wind loading.
The BRE software package, called BREWS, performs analysis
calculations and can accommodate changes in building design. It has
also been strucured to provide engineers with a simplified
introduction to the new standard BS 6399: Part 2 "Code of Practice
for wind loads.
BREWS was developed by BRE working with South Africa-based Building
Technology. A trial disk is available.
