Wheeler leads London drive

David Wheeler has been appointed as a director of Birse Construction's London office, a move intended to boost Birse's operations in the capital.

Wheeler, to be based in Piccadilly, will focus on the commercial building sector within the M25, concentrating particularly on refurbishment work. His appointment is in line with Birse's plans to improve its service to London-based clients, developers and institutions.

Birse's current schemes in the area include a œ10 million six-storey extension for Lewisham Hospital NHS Trust, a non-food retail park in Brentford for Dixons, and a 100,000ft2 production facility on behalf of Kingspark Developments in Harlesden.

Civil engineering developments include the repainting of Grosvenor Bridge.
