WESTPILE'S DOCK SCHEME
Westpile has completed difficult piling works in a 14m depth of dock infill in Glasgow for Bovis Con-struction (Scotland) as part of works for the extension to the Scottish Exhibition & Conference Centre. After extra site investigation and and preliminary pile testing, most piles were excavated using a 16m temporary casing with bentonite slurry rotary boring.
DEFECTS IN DAMS
The Building Research Establishment has published a new guide to the identification and repair of defects in dams. Investigating em-bankment dams was produced as part of the DoE reservoir safety research programme. Reader enquiry No 353.
