Construction skills register offers more time
The Construction Skills Certification Scheme is extending the
period of "grandfather rights" under which established operatives
may be registered on an employer's recommendation, rather than an
approved formal qualification.
The cut-off deadline for "grandfather rights" for the first five
trades covered by the CSCS scheme was set for this September - 18
months after the launch of the register. That deadline has now been
put in abeyance. The trades affected are bricklaying, painting and
decorating, partitioning, piling, and roof slating and tiling.
