Brown &Root joins Intecsa
Brown & Root and Intecsa of Spain have been awarded a contract
for the design and management of the next particle accelerator at
the European particle physics laboratory at Geneva.
The European Organisation for Nuclear Research is investing
œ1.3 billion in the Large Hadron Collider.
The latest collider will be housed in 27km of tunnels 100m under
the Leman Plain near Geneva.
The collider will occupy space vacated by earlier projects, but
additional underground and surface installations are needed for the
next experiments.
This will entail significant civil engineering work, including
three large span caverns and around 5km of new tunnels.
