CIB appoints second deputy

The Construction Industry Board has appointed Tony Merricks as its
second deputy chairman.
Merricks has worked in the construction industry since 1960, including for BICC and John Mowlem Group.
In 1981 he joined Balfour Beatty and nine years later was appointed to the board of Balfour Beatty Civil Engineering as general manager of the specialist holdings division.
Merricks is currently chairman of the Construction Research and Innovation Strategy Panel.
Merricks, whose appointment runs for two years, commented: "I am pleased to have this opportunity through the CIB of helping put the Latham Report into action because it's important that it's not all fine words. I will be leading the activities on registration, training and education and research and development."
