Tarmac wins A13 bid
Tarmac has pipped Amey and Amec to win the latest stretch of the
A13 upgrade in Essex with a bid of œ51 million - well below
the Highways Agency estimate of œ78 million.
The 3km stretch of three-lane dual carriageway runs from the
existing A13 at Heathway through the Ford Motor Company estate at
Dagenham. The section is the westernmost part of the route, which
links the A13 to the Mar Dyke bypass in Essex.
The works include one grade-separated junction and 1.7km of
viaduct. The other three bidders for the contract were Balfour
Beatty, Laing and Alfred McAlpine.
