Three listed for Lowry bid


Bovis Construction, Laing Management and Mowlem Management have been shortlisted for the œ70 million management contract to build the Lowry Centre in Salford, Manchester.

The unsuccessful bidders were Sir Robert McAlpine, Amec and Heery International. The winning contractor for the construction and fit-out will be selected in October.

The Lowry Centre comprises a 1,650 seat lyric theatre, a 400 seat flexible theatre, art galleries to house the Lowry paintings, children's gallery, shops, bars and waterfront restaurant.
