700 tonne shovel from O&K
O&K is building its biggest-ever mining shovel for Syncrude
Canada. The 700t RH-400 will be able to swing a face shovel bucket
of up to 45m3 and will work alongside two RH-200s at Syncrude's
Alberta tar sands open-pit mine.
The RH-200s have worked well in temperatures as low as -45¼ C
for five years and Syncrude had no hesitation in buying this first
new RH-400 at a cost approaching œ7 million.
