HAawards more "super-agencies"
Two new "super agency" contracts to manage the maintenance and
improvement of 1,000 miles of trunk roads and motorways in East
Anglia and parts of central England have been awarded by the
Highways Agency.
Owen Williams Consultants has been awarded the commission for Area
6, which covers Norfolk, Suffolk, and parts of Essex,
Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire.
Thorburn Colquhoun of Bedford will cover Area 8, which includes
most of Bedfordshire and parts of Essex, Cambridgeshire,
Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Northamptonshire, Warwickshire and
Leicestershire.
The awards are part of an overall plan to reduce the number of
highway maintenance agencies from 82 to 24. Four of the new areas
have now been awarded.
