Amec Construction has won a œ20 million contract to build a
complex of luxury apartments in Kensington, London for Hutchinson
IDH Developments - part of the Hong Kong international
conglomerate, Hutchinson Whampoa Property Group.
The new development will be constructed on the site of the recently
demolished College House building in Wrights Lane. Construction of
a reinforced concrete frame is now underway to provide space for
three and a half levels of car parking.
Above this there will be three adjoining buildings known as
Sovereign, Regent and Consort Courts. The ground and upper floors
will provide 18,000m2 of space for 133 one, two and three bedroomed
apartments and a leisure suite. Overall completion is scheduled for
early summer 1998.
The building will be constructed with in-situ concrete slab floors
and blade columns with a structural steel roof finished in asphalt,
insulation and paving on flat surfaces and slate for sloping
surfaces. The elevation will be largely brickwork, render and
metalwork features.
