Southern Water is inviting tenders from its list of approved contractors for an œ18m project to design and construct concrete storm-water storage tanks at Coombehaven and Bexhill in East Sussex.

Henry O'Rourke, the Irish construction arm of the O'Rourke Group, has won a œ12m contract to design and build Castlerea Prison in Co. Roscommon, in the Republic of Ireland.

Incubator Building is inviting contractors to bid for a œ10.5m project to provide a number of bio-science laboratories (7,800m2) along with supporting and administration areas at the University of Manchester.

Derbyshire Police Authority is seeking to prequalify firms for a œ7m project to provide a two-storey divisional police headquarters building with single cell accommodation in reinforced concrete frame construction in Ripley, Derbyshire.

Norwest Holst has just begun work on an œ8.4m contract to provide a six-storey building to accommodate research groups in organic, inorganic and bio-organic chemistry for the University of Southampton's Chemistry Department.

Severn Trent Water is to issue tenders for four projects: a œ10m new activated sludge plant in Barnhurst; a œ3.4m improvements project at Stroud; plus a œ1.5m secondary digester asset renewal contract and a œ5m pre and post-digestion sludge thickening and dewatering facility at Minworth Sewage Treatment Works.

Morrison Construction has won a œ5.2m contract to build a Safeway superstore in Largs, Ayrshire.
