A universal success

Self-propelled access platform manufacturer JLG Industries (Europe) has appointed Universal Aerial Platforms (UAP) as its authorised distributor for the South of England. Whilst the move helps JLG penetrate the south east a spokesman for UAP, which currently has a fleet of more than 400 said: "JLG offers a full product line and innovative product ideas which will further improve choice for our customers." UAP has already placed a œ2 million order with JLG.

handi expansion

East Midlands-based tool hirer Handi Hire, which employs more than 150 staff across six counties, has continued its recent expansion by opening of a fourth depot. The depot - the result of the recent purchase of Staffordshire based A-Z plant hire - takes the total number of depots throughout the East Midlands and Yorkshire to 18. This year's acquisition follows last November's purchase of the Beeston, Radford and Sutton-in-Ashfield branches of Hi-Gear.

Hicks scores a first

The UK's first Kubota R Series wheel loader has entered service with Berkshire builders merchant John L Hicks. Supplied by dealer Grant Plant the 29.8kW R420 is equipped with a hydraulic coupler, 0.4m3 bucket and pallet forks. The machine has been supplied by the dealer with a comprehensive contract maintenance programme - this includes a minimum of three services a year. Reader enquiry no: 740.
