Atlantic Plastics is claiming a winner in the form of its new INTEX
water connection system following the successful completion of
trials with various UK water companies.
The INTEX system is designed to enhance the range of ATPLAS Water
Management systems. It is targeted as a user-friendly water
connection for all new domestic and small commercial construction
projects.
INTEX is a wall-mounted box (one third the size of gas and
electricity utility wall-mounted boxes) which can be installed
during construction into the space of just two bricks. It replaces
both the boundary box and the internal valves associated with the
service to a property. The customer has easy access to both a stop
tap and drain valve on the inside wall.
The system allows costs to be reduced for making a domestic
connection and removes the costs associated with maintaining a
boundary installation and the liabilities connected to footpath
furniture. There are fewer underground joints which reduces
leakage.
INTEX has been tested with static and flowing water at 6 bar with
temperatures down to -15 degrees celsius. Field trials were
undertaken with Anglian, Bournemouth, Bristol and North West Water.
