Willmott Dixon Management has secured a œ15m contract to build a research and development facility for the American computer company 3Com at their UK office in Hemel Hempstead.

Bowmer & Kirkland has won two contracts worth a total of œ15m. One is a new supermarket, petrol station and road infrastructure package at Burntwood, near Cannock for Safeway. The second is for a new depot for Wigan Borough Council at Hindley.

The University of Edinburgh is inviting tenders for an œ8m, three-storey extension to its Chemistry Depart-ment, including a variety of multi-use laboratories. It has not yet decided whether to take a management contract or convention contract approach.

Laing, Shepherd and Tarmac are bidding against Gateshead Council's direct works organisation for a new œœ8m school on Tyneside.

Northumbria Police Authority is seeking expressions of interest for a œ7.5m project to construct a 6,586m2 new command headquarters with car parking at Etal Lane, Newcastle upon Tyne.

Miller Construction has a œ5.7m design and build project to construct a poultry cutting plant for Perry Foods with 5,000m2 of chilled production area and 1,400m2 of office space.

Birse has been awarded a œ5m contract under an existing partnering arrangement to redevelop press facilities for the Rover Group at its Swindon plant.
