kvaerner

Kvaerner has joined with Boeing of the US to develop the world's first offshore base for the US navy. The project, a 1,600m floating runway and troop carrier on the world's largest mobile off-shore platform, could be worth œ3.2 billion. Kvaerner has also won a œ15 million contract for a new plant at Dumfries for Swedish-owned board manufacturer Egger UK.

atkins œ6.5m rail job

WS Atkins has won two Railtrack contracts for the structural examination of all its railway structures in the South and Midlands East zones. Both contracts are for a three-year period and worth a total of œ6.5 million.

torpy's new jv

Bristol-based Torpy & Partners has set up a joint venture company with the former management of YRM engineers, a London building services consultancy. It will be based in London and run by former YRME chairman David Holland.

MS centre needs land

The Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre is searching for a building plot of land between 0.3 and 0.7 acres or a building with at least 2,500 sq ft of floor space to convert into a new therapy centre for the south west of England. John Laing

We would like to clarify that the General Healthcare Group will remain as partner to John Laing in the Octagon Healthcare consortium involved with the Norfolk & Norwich district hospital PFI project, despite its sale by parent company G'n'rale des Eaux, as reported last week.
