Projects 'safe from Windfall Tax' says Millennium Commission
Projects funded by Lottery money should be safe from any financial
impact of a windfall tax on Camelot, the Lottery operator it was
revealed this week.
A spokeswoman for the Millennium Commission, which awards Lottery
funds, said: "Our understanding is that all our present commitments
will be honoured."
There was speculation earlier this week that the new Government
would add the Lottery to the list of sectors to be hit by the
windfall tax. Camelot's possible inclusion has given rise to fears
that funding to the Millennium Commission, Heritage Lottery Fund,
Arts Council and Sports Council might be reduced.
