First Kubota R used in Reading
The UK's first Kubota R series wheel loader is in use at builders
merchant John Hicks of Reading, Berkshire.
Supplied by dealer Grant Plant, the 29.8 kW R420 is equipped with a
hydraulic quick coupler, 0.4 square metre bucket and pallet
forks.
Bob Webb, general manager at Hicks', reveals that having had the
R420 on trial for a week, he suggested to the operators that they
try another marque for comparison, but they refused.
With the bucket fitted, the R420, which shifts up to 60 tonnes of
material a day at the builders merchant's, loads out five different
materials including sand, ballast, shingle and scalpings.
The machine's easy switch-over between the bucket and forks with
the hydraulic coupler improves the vehicles' turn-round time.
