A Mercedes-Benz Unimog fitted with a mowing attachment is saving
time and money and helping protect lives in Wales.
The Barrier Mower, unique in the UK, cuts more than 2.5 miles of grass around roadway barriers an hour, compared with two miles in eight hours for a team of six workers with strimmers.
David Jones, inventor of the Barrier Mower and owner of David Lloyd Contractors, says: "There is no other vehicle that could help us carry out so many different tasks at the same time as carrying men and equipment to site quickly and comfortably."
The Unimog, operating with a specially designed grass mower for barriers and a mobile traffic hazard warning, eliminates the cost of coning-off stretches of road and creates a safer working environment on roads and motorways.
