In response to what it describes as a "strong upturn in the
construction industry", Cardiff-based Brunswick Holdings has
decided to reinvest in its plant arm.
The division, which was absorbed into the main part of the business
during the recession, has remerged under its old name of Brunswick
Plant Ltd.
Although the division's original fleet of JCB backhoe loaders has
been sold the company - following recent research - is now making
significant investment in non-operated plant such as dumpers and
mini excavators and traffic management systems.
Should the opportunity arise the one depot operation has also been
given the go ahead by the Board to expand organically or by
acquisition.
Asked about the Board's renewed interest in its plant arm, the
division's newly appointed general manager Andrew Richards, who has
been with Brunswick for eight years told CJ: "With the recent
political changes, it is felt that the economic climate will
improve."
Although claiming it was impossible to grow the external hire
business during the recession Richards revealed: "It is now more
economically viable" and added: "We want to be ahead of the game.
To expand ready for the upturn."
Asked about existing evidence of an upturn he said: "Whilst rates
haven't really changed that much, the volume of work has."
Another key figure charged with helping boost the revamped
division's fortunes throughout South Wales and the West is plant
and transport manager Richard Martin.
