Ssangyong's new Korando
Ssangyong is set to launch a Jeep-like recreational/utility
vehicle. Called the Korando, the car will be sold in both 2.9 litre
diesel and 2.3 litre petrol models, and is set to reach British
showrooms from August. According to Ssangyong, the vehicle will
have a significant price advantage over potential rivals, with the
Korando LS 2.9 litre diesel set
to cost œ15,950 on the road.
The Korando has a separate chassis. It features a selectable four
wheel drive system, anti lock brakes and traction control. It is a
civilianised version of a vehicle used by the Korean army.
