BIRMINGHAMAIRPORT INVITATIONS

Birmingham International Airport is inviting a range of consultants to qualify for its list of approved companies to work on a range of contracts worth œ90 million to be phased over five years. Contracts will be worth up to œ20 million and involve the construction of extensions and refurbishments to existing terminal buildings, aprons, taxiways, airfield works, roads and drainage.

œ25M BELFAST COURTTENDERS

The Northern Ireland Court Service has announced its intention to invited tenders later this year for a œ25 million new complex of courts in a central Belfast location.

œ20m LEEDSROADDBFO

Leeds City Council is to invite firms to prequalify for a œ20 million DBFO road job to construct and maintain a new dual carriageway feeder route at the East Leeds Radial site. The awards procedure is expected to start in February 1998.

œ50m LOCHLOMONDDEVELOPMENT

A œ50 million development comprising tourist attractions, retail and food facilities, private housing and a hotel is being planned for Balloch on the southern tip of Loch Lomond. Dunbartonshire Enterprise has announced it will invite tenders later this year for consultancy and design services, site preparation and construction services.

TOWERTENDERSSOUGHT

The Historic Royal Palaces, acting on behalf of the Department of National Heritage, is inviting tenders for œ50 million worth of work at the Tower of London. Tenders are due to be invited in July with work scheduled to begin in September.

SUNDERLANDCOLLEGEPFI

The City of Sunderland College is proposing a œ20 million, 16,000m2 teaching and support buildings scheme. The college is hoping to be awarded pathfinder status and will probable be tested under the PFI route.

BLACKPOOLHOSPITALREDEVELOPMENT

Blackpool Victoria Hospital NHS Trust is inviting expressions of interest in a œ14 million contract to build Phase V of its redevelopment scheme, which comprises two, three-storey nucleus template buildings to be connected to the existing hospital under a JCT(80) style contract.

SCHALINVITESWELSHGARDEN TENDERS

Schal is inviting tenders on behalf of the National Botanic Garden of Wales for the œ12 million Phase 1 works. These will be broken down into trade packages. The site is at Middleton Hall, Neuadd Deg in Carmarthenshire.

œ8m HACKNEY LEISURECENTRE

The London Borough of Hackney is seeking contractors to build an œ8 million leisure facilities building with approximate overall area of 8,000m2. Contractors have until 16 June to apply to Hackney Environmental Services.

UCL ISSUES RESEARCH BUILDINGSPECS

University College London is inviting tenders for a six-storey research building of around 2,300m2 gross area. The scheme, known as Phase VIa is at the Institute of Ophthalmology site in Bath Street, EC1.
