Merlin super-alternators promise performance
Merlin Equipment has promised that its 55 amp alternator will
outperform a standard 100 amp unit.
The company, of Wallingford, Oxon, produces Poweline Alternators
which are three-stage models designed to provide heavy-duty power
in harsh environments.
The alternator itself is nickel-plated to prevent corrosion while
the 3-stage control box is said to be utterly reliable. Heavy duty
windings, bearings and brushes complete the specification.
Even at very low idling speeds the units are claimed to keep
vehicle batteries fully-charged.
An LED on the regulator tells when it is charging correctly and the
management system will shut-off automatically should a circuit
fault occur. Prices start at œ199 ex VAT.
