Number 1 opening marks Try Group's half year results
Building contractor and housebuilder Try Group marked its first
half year's results for 1997 with the handover to the New All
England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club of the new Number 1 stadium
and broadcasting centre at Wimbledon.
At the same time the Group gave a glimmer of its financial
performance two months before its interims are officially
published. On 30 June the Group had œ5.5 million cash balance
sitting in its bank account and had œ110 million worth of
contracting work in hand - the same level as the end of last
year.
The value of Try Homes' house sales for the first six months of
1997 were œ7.2 million, compared to œ7 million the
previous year. Finance director Frank Nelson said there was a
significant improvement in margins as the company continued to
benefit from the improving market in London and south east. "At 30
June the value of sales in hand was œ10.3 million compared to
œ4.8 million at the same stage last year."
