Laing wins £30m of work in the Midlands
John Laing Construction has been appointed preferred contractor for
two major MEPC projects in the Midlands.
The two schemes have a total construction value of over £30
million and are situated in Colmore Row, Birmingham and the Eagle
Shopping Centre in Derby. Both are expected to be on site by the
end of the year.
The Birmingham scheme involves the demolition of an existing
building at 125 Colmore Row.
Current occupiers, Lloyds TSB, will move temporarily and return in
mid-2000 to the new 12,880m2 headquarters.
The Eagle Shopping Centre scheme consists of major refurbishment to
the existing centre to provide improved daylight and lighting, with
new floor, wall and sofit finishes.
A new Sainsbury store will be created by combining existing retail
units and extending into the main centre. The existing Sainsbury
store will be stripped out and divided up to create new shop units.
