M25 consultant wanted
The Highways Agency has invited tenders for the design work on the
£94 million widening of the M25 between junctions 12 and 15.
The project is one of the key schemes remaining in the roads
programme after the wide ranging cutbacks announced by the
Government in June.
The agency is seeking a consulting engineer to finalise the outline
design. The work involves widening the M25 by two lanes in each
direction for part of the 10km stretch and by one lane for another
stretch, all within the existing boundaries of the M25.
The project will be let as a design and build contract. The winning
designer will advise the agency during the construction tender
period and act as its agent during the construction.
The agency estimates it will issue tender documents to the
shortlisted designers in October this year.
