MoD to offer £300m flood of PFI work
by James Atkinson
A £300 million spate of PFI water and sewerage work will come
up for grabs later this year, the Ministry of Defence said this
week.
Bids from the private sector are likely to be led by the big water
companies supported by consortia including contractors.
The PFI move will see the MoD transfer water and sewerage
operations at 140 bases split into five or six areas.
About £200 million of long-term operational contracts and
£100 million of new investment is expected to be needed.
Both Morrison Construction and MJ Gleeson said they were interested
in the work.
Both have won PFI work in Scotland with North West Water and Thames
Water respectively.
