New PFIrules to be published

The Accounting Standards Board will publish new rules on PFI contracts this Thursday.

The ASB wants all PFI schemes to be put on to the balance sheets of either the Government or the private sector companies involved (CJ 12 August 1998). The move threatens to push up the Public Sector Borrowing Requirement and there are fears that the Government will either force contractors to take on more risk or shelve some PFI projects
