tenders for £100m of prison work
The Prison Service is advertising tenders for a 12-month management
contracting framework agreement to oversee some £100 million
worth of prison refurbishment work per annum throughout England and
Wales. Interested parties are to contact the Prison Service's
construction unit by 9 October 1998.
two -stage millennium in Norwich?
Construction tenders for the £60 million millennium project in
Norwich could go out to tender in November if a two-stage
management style contract route is adopted. However, the scheme's
promoter, the Norfolk and Norwich Millennium Company, stressed no
decision has been made on the procurement route yet and a
traditional single-stage conventional tender may be used. If so
tenders will not go out until around March 1999.
The wonders of Waltham Abbey
The Waltham Abbey Royal Gunpowder Mills Company is inviting tenders
for a £5.5 million contract for conservation and restoration
work on the historic buildings and structures within the site at
Waltham Abbey in Essex. The site contains around 350 structures
including 21 Grade I listed buildings, eight Grade II* listed
buildings and other Grade II listed structures. Five key buildings
will be converted and refurbished to provide information on the
history of the site. Turner & Townsend Project Management in
London is handling the bids.
Two tenders from the MOD
The MoD's Defence Estate Organisation is inviting tenders for two
projects - at Mons Barracks, Aldershot in Hampshire and Blandford
Camp, near Blandford Forum, Dorset. The Mons scheme comprises the
demolition of existing buildings and the construction of new
officers' and junior ranks' living accommodation, garages,
workshops, messes and other facilities. The Blandford scheme also
requires demolition work and the construction of new accommodation
for over 500 people and new messes.
