Trust's £38m remedy

The West Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust is re-inviting tenders for its £38 million PFI project at Isleworth in Middlesex. The Trust had selected a Taylor Woodrow led consortium back in December 1995, but the initial scheme fell foul of the re-prioritisation of PFI healthcare schemes introduced by the new Labour Government in July 1997.

The scheme was resubmitted by the Trust and given approval in the 'second wave' of priority PFI healthcare schemes announced in April this year. However, the Trust has been forced to re-advertise the scheme and now has to go through the whole selection process once again.

The project involves a new build element which has to be integrated with the existing hospital buildings and the refurbishment of parts of the present hospital facilities.
