PFI to be used in £25m health job
Newham Healthcare NHS Trust is to undertake a £25 million
redevelopment project to centralise its health services in London
using the private finance initiative.
The Trust's current preference is to centralise services at the
Newham General Hospital site in Plaistow, London, which will mean
moving services from St Andrew's Hospital in Bow, E3.
The aim is to provide a single 520-bed integrated acute hospital.
St Andrew's Hospital lies within an area of regeneration and may be
available for redevelopment, along with some other sites which may
be released.
The Trust has residential accommodation at Newham General and other
sites and may decide to relocate all of it at the hospital or
possibly elsewhere.
The Trust estimates the cost of the construction to be around
£25 million including backlog maintenance costs and the costs
of the provision of support services to be around £18 million.
