£20 million road win for Tarmac
Tarmac has won a £20 million contract for day-to-day
maintenance of more than 440km of trunk roads and motorway in
Cumbria.
The three-year maintenance contract is for Area 19 of the Highways
Agency's 'Super Agency' network. It includes 122km of the M6 and
322km of trunk road and around 800 structures.
The award is the fifth 'Super Agency' area won by Tarmac Quarry
Products, which is already responsible for maintaining 5,000km of
highways. Tarmac is responsible for maintenance of Area 4 in Kent
and Essex, Area 8, which includes Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire
and Bedfordshire, Area 14 covering Derbyshire and Area 16 which
comprises roads in South and West Yorkshire.
