Fat lady singing for masonry firm
The masonry firm currently working on the Royal Opera House and on
a Kvaerner job in Great Marlborough St, London, has gone into
receivership.
Drings of Bath called in receiver Ernst and Young last Wednesday
following a period of tough trading.
A spokesman for the receiver said they were already in discussions
with a number of potential purchasers and were keen to make a quick
sale of the business as a going concern although he conceded that:
"Too many companies are chasing too much work at the moment."
The ROH contract, where Drings was subcontracted to London-based
stonemason Szerelmey, is very close to completion, although a
spokesman for Ernst and Young admitted there will be a slight delay
in completion. On the Great Marlborough Street contract, Drings has
only completed 20 per cent of its work
Drings employs 30 staff predominantly at its Keynsham works. It has
two small monumental mason offices in Bath.
