Costain JV nets hotel
by James Atkinson
A Costain/Skanska joint venture is negotiating a contract to
undertake a £35 million refurbishment of the Great Western
Royal Hotel in Paddington, London, according to industry
sources.
Costain/Skanska has won the first stage of the contract and is now
in negotiations over the second and final stage of the scheme to
renovate the hotel on Praed Street at Paddington Station.
The renovation will take the form of a major refurbishment and
extension.
The interiors of the existing hotel will be stripped back to the
structural shell and parts of the building will undergo structural
alterations. The building will then be completely refitted
including upgraded mechanical and electrical works.
Glazed curtain walling will be added to six floors and stonework
will be cleaned and restored.
