Bovis hauls in £107m Toyota plant in France
Bovis Construction has won a £107 million contract to build
the first Toyota car plant in France.
The two stage construction programme at Valenciennes, near the
Belgium border, will begin in the new year and includes the
building and infrastructure of the plant. The new plant will have
140,000m2 of floor space and is expected to be completed in Spring
2000.
Andrew Bond, head of corporate communications at Bovis, confirmed
that the company will continue its policy of employing local
workers wherever possible.
Bovis boasts a track record of 20 years of major construction work
in France and amongst its leading successes was the completion of
Disneyland Paris in 1992. Bond said: "I believe it is the global
presence of Bovis that was a significant factor in our winning the
Toyota contract."
