Kvaerner signs New Deal
Kvaerner has signed up to the Government's New Deal programme
agreeing to take on between 25 and 30 new employees annually for
the next three years.
Keith Clarke, chief executive of Kvaerner Construction, gave his
commitment to the New Deal at a signing ceremony at the site of the
£26 million combined office, residential and retail centre in
Great Marlborough Street, London.
Employment minister Andrew Smith hosted the event. He said:
"Kvaerner is joining more than 29,000 other employers in backing
the New Deal."
The apprenticeships on offer will teach construction trades such as
structural steelwork, mechanical and electrical engineering, ground
engineering and specialist plasterwork.
Clarke said: "Kvaerner Construction fully supports the New Deal
initiative and our structural steel company, Kvaerner Cleveland
Bridge, has already appointed three apprentice steel erectors."
