Flow of qualified technicians into industry: research appeal

Sir,

I would like to appeal to the readership for assistance with my final MBA dissertation research which I will complete at the Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen early in 1999.

The research studies the changing role of the apprentice and technician in the UK civil engineering industry.

The research views changes in how employers use technicians in the workplace, and how the flow of qualified technicians into industry is developing. The research will outline developments over the last twelve years - from 1986, and will seek to describe the current position of apprentice and technician in the civil engineering industry.

I appeal to individuals to offer their assistance in the research. This will take the form of completion of a brief questionnaire.

The current research is limited to 'consultants' and 'contractors'. Consultant organisations should command a staffing total of no less than 90, contractors should command a staffing total of no less than 180.

It is critical that both the larger, as well as the smaller organisations come forward, in order that an overall picture can be developed and coherent comparisons can be drawn between organisations of differing type and size.
