£50m scottish parliament interest sought
The Scottish Office has invited specialist contractors to express interest in 38 trade packages involved in the construction and fit-out of the proposed £50 million new Scottish Parliament building at Holyrood in Edinburgh. The work will be let as a construction management contract which is due to be awarded to one of four construction management firms currently bidding for the job.
morrison wins £18m sewerage contract
Morrison Construction has been awarded an £18.3 million contract from Yorkshire Water Services to improve substantial sections of the sewerage system in Whitby. Morrison has set up a specialist joint venture partnership with Amec Tunnelling and Morrison's civil engineering and utility and facilities management divisions to undertake the work.
nuneaton town centre to get upgrade
Richardson Developments, in association with Cordwell Properties, is to undertake a multi-million pound redevelopment of Nuneaton town centre. The 19,000m2 development will provide the town with a major retail and leisure scheme called The Rope Walk.
kvaerner's £11m soda pipeline win
Kvaerner Construction has secured an £11 million contract to design and construct a 4.7km-long steam pipeline running between two soda ash production sites at Winnington and Northwich in Cheshire for PowerGen CHP.

English Partnerships is inviting tenders for the construction of 45 high specification industrial/manufacturing units totalling 9,752m2 at Europarc, Grimsby in North-east Lincolnshire. Some 375m of roads and pavement are also included. A second phase will involve the construction of smaller units totalling 2,300m2.

Norwest Holst Construction has been awarded an £8.3 million contract to build 27,000m2 of production/warehouse buildings with offices for Frontier Estates on the Brinklow Estate at the Stratus Park development in Milton Keynes.

The Mater Hospital Health and Social Services Trust in Belfast is seeking tenderers for an £8.5 million job to construct a 7,100m2, three-storey, concrete-frame building with concrete flat slab floors and rainscreen cladding on the Mater Hospital site on Stoney Road, Dundonald, Belfast.

Edmund Nuttall has been awarded a £6.3 million pipeline installation contract by Southern Water Services at Littlehampton and Bognor Regis on the south coast of England. Four ductile iron transfer pipelines totalling 23km will be laid.

The Scottish Office Development Department is to invite tenders for a £5-6 million design and build road contract on the A720 Edinburgh City Bypass early next year. The job involves widening a section of the bypass over a 3km stretch between Dreghorn Junction to the east side of the Waters of Leith Bridge.
