Notts tram green light

The £167 million light rail scheme for Nottingham has been green-lighted by the Government. The Nottingham Express Transit project will be taken forward under a privately financed deal with a 30-year concession period.

The Arrow consortium will design, build and operate the line. Arrow comprises Tarmac, Adtranz - the Derby-based railway equipment and rolling stock supplier, French tram operator Transdev and Nottingham City Transport, the council owned bus company.

Arrow was appointed preferred bidder on 6 October 1997.

Line One will run from Nottingham's mainline Midland Station to Hucknall in the north with a branch line to Cinderhill in the west.
