21 Government PFI projects given go-ahead
A further 21 local government private finance initiative schemes
were given the go-ahead last week bringing the total number of
approved projects to 87. The largest scheme was the Nottingham Tram
Link scheme.
Two social housing projects in Derby and Berwick upon Tweed got the
green light as did individual school projects in Essex, Kent
(Swanscombe) and Liverpool (Speke/Garston Partnership) and Waltham
Forest.
A number of grouped school schemes were also approved including: a
36 schools project in Cornwall; 10 secondary schools in Haringey,
London; seven schools in Leeds; four primary schools in North
Yorkshire; six schools in Nottinghamshire; a schools
rationalisation project in Tameside; and a three schools project in
Wiltshire.
Fire station projects for Avon,/ Somerset/Gloucester and Cornwall
have also been added to the list.
